My children have already read the first book, so now is a good time for them to do some creative exercises that will help them remember each character.
With my three-year-old unable to write Chinese, and my six-year-old feeling uncertain about her ability, I created printables with stroke guidelines as an aid.
This has helped them develop the confidence they need to learn how to confidently express themselves in writing Chinese characters.

We are providing 13 Chinese characters we have gathered from the first book of Sagebook series.
We have selected the Chinese characters which are more simple to learn and have not included the harder Chinese characters.

Level: Beginner
This printable set includes 13 Chinese characters. Each character is broken down into small, colorful circles. There is also a stroke guide to help your child understand each character better!
This version of the guide has more detail on where each stroke leads from beginning to end. We recommend starting with this circle version.
I usually like to start this version off with my children since they are colorful and that creates more fun for them!
Chinese Characters (Circles) – With Stroke Guidelines [Black & White]
Level: Intermediate
This set includes 13 Chinese characters broken down into small circles and accompanied by stroke guides in black circles – a great tool to help enhance your child's understanding of each character!
Once my kids finished the colorful circle version, I move on to these black and white versions.
Chinese Characters (Circles) – Without Stroke Guidelines
Level: Advanced
This set of Chinese characters does not have stroke order guidelines. We would advise using this advance set once your child knows the stroke orders perfectly.
When my kids know the stroke order, I test them out with this version.

- Laminator (optional)

Instructions
STEP 1 β DOWNLOAD
You must first download the free printable. Select your preferred version.
STEP 2 β STORE
Once you've downloaded the file, save a copy in a safe place (i.e., External hard drive, cloud storage, etc.)
STEP 3 β OPEN
Open the files with Adobe PDF Reader. You can download it for free.
STEP 4 β PRINT
You can print the file by clicking on the “Printer” icon after opening it in Adobe PDF Reader.
Verify that it will print in portrait mode and choose “fit” from the page sizing & handling session.
I recommend using white card stock for the best result.
STEP 5 β LAMINATE (optional) Or Use Holder Pockets
For heavier weight and extra durability, I use five mil laminator pouches.
Use a laminator pouch to insert each sheet. Then, laminate them using a laminator.
You can also use ticket holder pockets if you do not want to laminate them.
STEP 6 β PRESENT
Your printables are ready! It is time to present them to your kids.
